V. The competition is held in two rounds:
I round – video pre-selection
II round – open auditions

VI. No more than 12 people from each group will be admitted to the second round. Names of the participants admitted to the second round will be announced in April 2018.

VII. The order of the 2nd round participants will be determined by a draw.

VIII. The participant is provided a practice room and a rehearsal on the stage where the auditions are held.

IX. The results of the competition will be announced on the 16th of June, upon the end of the competition.

X. All of the prizewinners are obligated to participate in the final concert on the 17th of June 2018.

XI. All rights to photograph, record and broadcast any part of the competition are reserved by the organizers of the competition. The right for unlimited use of the recorded material is also reserved.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

I. The duration of the 2nd round performance must not exceed 30 minutes for Junior group and 40 minutes for Senior group. The total time includes pauses between the pieces.

II. All of the pieces have to be performed by heart, except W. A. Mozart sonatas in the 1st round.

III. «Bärenreiter» is the preferred edition for performing works by W. A. Mozart, G. P. Telemann and J. S. Bach.

IV. It is up to the participant whether or not to follow the repeat signs.

V. Participants requiring a pianist for the 2nd round and final concert performances are to pay for services of the pianist provided by the competition organizers.

– Prize from «Bärenreiter» publishing house (Kassel\Prague).
– Prize from the strings and accessories manufacturer «Pirastro» (Germany).
– Recording of two pieces for violin solo at the «OliMusic» recording studio (Lviv, Ukraine), provided by Ukrainian musical blog «Moderato».
– Prize form the «Legato» association (Switzerland) for the best participant from Odessa or Odessa region.
– A concert at the Odessa Philharmonic Hall during the 2018/19 season.
– Grant for participation in the international music master class or competition from VERE MUSIC FUND.
– Participation in the concert of the laureates of the competition, which will be held at the Lviv National Opera during the 2018/2019 season.

JURY

– The jury consists of prominent musicians.
– A jury member who is a teacher of a participant has no vote in discussions concerning this participant during the preliminary round.
– The jury reserves the right not to award all prizes, as well as to divide the prizes between participants (except for the first prize).
– The jury has the right to stop the performance of a participant, if the program is exceeding the time limits.
– Decisions of the jury are final and not subject to revision.
– Voting procedure:
– After the first round, each jury member has to name 12 participants from each age group, who they want to see in the second round. Participants who received the majority of votes are admitted to the second round. In case of a tie, the points (from 1 to 50), which jury members will additionally assign to their 12 selected participants, will be taken into account.
– The list of the participants admitted to the second round will be signed by all jury members and published on the official website of the competition. The number of points for each participant admitted to the second round remains confidential until the second round is finished.
– After the second round, all jury members will evaluate the participants on a 50-point scale. In order to make a final decision on the prizewinners, jury members will consider the performances in both rounds of the competition. In case of a tie, points assigned in both rounds will be taken into account.
– In case of a tie, the vote of the head of the jury is decisive.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

I. There is no application fee.

II. The application must be submitted via the competition website www.odessacompetition.com by 31 March 2018. Applications received after 31 March 2018 will not considered.

III. The application can be completed in English, Ukrainian or Russian and has to include the following documents and materials:

– Web-link to the video recording of 1st round performance a copy of the applicant’s identification document (birth certificate or passport).
– Artistic biography.
– Digital colour photographs
– Copies of laureate diplomas and/or certificates from international competitions.

IV. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

V. By submitting the application, an applicant is expressing their full agreement with the rules and regulations of the competition.

VI. Video recording requirements:

– The video recording has to be posted on www.youtube.com, be set to «public» or «unlisted», and be available until the results of the first round are announced. Making the video unavailable before the results of the first round are announced will automatically disqualify the participant.

– The pieces can be recorded separately.

– The video has to be shot on a still camera and display the musician in their full height.

– There may not be any titles or logos related to concert agencies, festivals or competitions whatsoever.

– Video recordings with unsatisfactory picture and/or sound quality will not be considered.
